Theory in the Late 19th Century
Edward Larson was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in History for his 1997 book, Summer for the Gods: The Scopes Trial and America's Continuing Debate over Science and Religion. He is also the author of The Creation-Evolution Debate: Historical Perspectives (2007), Evolution: The Remarkable History of a Scientific Theory (2004), Evolution's Workshop: God and Science in the Galapagos Islands (2001), Sex, Race and Science: Eugenics in the Deep South (1995), and The American Controversy Over Creation and Evolution (1985, now in its third edition). He received his law degree from Harvard in 1979 and his Ph.D. in History from the University of Wisconsin in 1984.
The event is free, aimed at a general audience, and open to the public.
